This doesn't fit in with anything else I collect but this may be one thing in this category that I should make money on. This is a lot of twenty four barber quarters of various years. They are no displayed in order. Some wear as can be noted but the date can be read on all of them. The earliest ones are two from 1893, three from 1898, one from 1899, one from 1901, one from 1903, 1904, 1905, 1906, two from 1908, one from 1909,1910, 1912, two from 1913, two 1914, two from 1915, and two from 1916. The only mint mark I noted was either an O or a D. Many didn't appear to have one.

Teddy Roosevelt Tray

I bought this over twenty years ago, pre eBay, when the Antique Trader was the main source of mail order items. In those days you had to depend on the seller to describe the condition. At that time I hadn't learned to beware those words, "great condition for the age." This tray is the result which I am selling as is. The scans show some of the worst condition problems including heavy rusting which in some cases covered in an amateurish way. Two holes at the edges where it must have been nailed at one time. The discoloration at the top is sticker residue which I never bothered to try to remove. Chipping off of the paint along the edges. Some chips in mid section as well with sad attempts to cover up.
Price: $45.50 USD (Sale Pending)

Lot of Wallace Country License Plate-George & Maureen
Item #: NEW-009662

I thought I had hit the jackpot when I picked up this grouping of the rarest George Wallace related car tag. The plates were made when Maureen was making her own bid for the Governor of Alabama. I noticed at the time that it had a thin clear sleeve but I didn't know you couldn't remove it. When I was able to remove it you could see a pattern it made in the paint. I'm selling as is so look closely at the scans. There are some small areas where the paint chipped off probably caused by my attempts to remove whatever that is covering them.. The colors are also not as rich as the example found in the political category which is from my collection. I have three of these available but the price given is for one plate. Buy one or all. They still are a fraction of the value of the plates, which are rarely found in mint condition.

I should have passed on this due to the condition, which was made worse by the dealer laminating it. Heavy folds and missing areas which can be seen in the scan. This was a supplement to the Nashville American newspaper featuring their candidate. It measures 27 by 22 inches. Bryan was a popular candidate in Tennessee, carrying the state. Selling at a loss.

Painting by Helen LaFrance-Noted Folk Artist

I know why I bought this. I thought it was very charming and I liked this artist's work. I just don't have the wall space anymore to display it. The painting was made on the back of a wood wall panel. It measures two feet by one foot. It shows black children playing with their kite by their simple home. Here is some information found on the web about this artist.
Helen LaFrance is a self-taught black artist who was born in 1919 in Western Kentucky. Her specialty is memory paintings of the disappearing lifestyle of the rural South, although she has painted religious themes and floral studies, usually in oil on canvas. She has painted since she was a small child, always following her mother's wisdom to "paint what you know." Not limited to two-dimensional media, she used to carve wooden animal sculptures and dolls and made wonderful quilts. LaFrance's work is held in many private collections, including Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Bryant Gumble and contemporary artist Red Grooms, and museums throughout the United States. She is featured in a chapter of Kathy Moses' reference book, "Outsider Art of the South", published by Schiffer Ltd.
This painting on this website was priced at $6,500. (Shelton Galleries) I purchased mine many years ago when she was an up and coming outsider artist. It is prominently signed though it's not clear in the scan.

I think I know why I bought this aviator cap made for children during the war years. When I was growing up we played soldiers and cowboys and indians and it must have been that memory that called to me to buy it. Please view the scans which show the worn condition. Purcell bottle not included.

I bought this beautiful painted metal plate without realizing that I had a duplicate at home. This is nice with two spots that appear to be retouched. Only small area seems to blend in pretty well and the other one shown in the scan could probably be improved on. Made by Vienna Art Plates copy right 1905. Some wear in the way of scratches on the back.

Kilroy Sat Here-Folk Art
Item #: WHY-009503

I bought this at a flea market just because it was there. I don't know anyone else who would want it other than a Kilroy specialist. " Kilroy was here" was a message scribbled every where by WWII soliders. This is a home made item, now with many defects but it is meant to be a latrine. The tolit seat is cracked and the bottom wood strip needs to be glued down.

Pooley Radio Cabinets Box-Contents

I've always had an affinity for little boxes but what to do with it now? The box measures 8 by 3 inches. Some wear in the surface as can be seen in the scan. The interior appears to be a white surface-milk glass maybe. I have thrown in three miscellaneous items that I bought for some reason. One is a packet of Victor Red Seal Needles (unopened), a 45 player insert and a Fidelitone Master record cleaning pad. The middle part had a phonograph needled inserted in it originally but it is gone.

Large Lot of Union Membership Buttons

This lot consist of 96 yearly membership celluloids from the Building and Construction Trades Council. They measure almost one and a half inches. At least 31 are from different years and I may have missed some as the colors are similar on many. There are 38 duplicates and I didn't count the ones with condition problems. Total 96 buttons, most from the 70's but some from late 60's. Great lot for the dealer. If I still set up at political shows I would keep them. Will need to be mailed priority so allow for that expense.
